The truck driver, William Berbert, 42 years, ran from the accident scene but was later found in Monroe on Matchaponix Road approximately 3 hours after the accident.

Then one of the other girls from Monroe was flown to Capital Health Systems Helene Fuld Medical Center in Trenton and she was later taken to the Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia. The driver and the 2 other passengers, both living in Monroe were admitted to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital but the injuries that they sustained were not life threatening. After Berbert was found at a house hed been living at in Monroe, he was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where he stayed until the morning and was later charged with driving under the influence of alcohol as well as fleeing the accident spot.
